ORLANDO, Fla. – March 22, 2023 – Brightworks Technology, Inc., a global leader in AC/DC power solutions and Contract Manufacturing Services (CMS) to OEMs worldwide, announced at APEC 2023 an initial design win for its new GSD family of external power adapters with Airdrop Gaming of Holland, Michigan.

“We selected the GSD60 to power our new Audio Radar game console with Adaptive 7.1 Surround Vision Technology. This decision was based on the adapter’s compact size and sleek look that is compatible with our overall industrial design and for its high efficiency and low standby current,” noted Timothy Murphy, CEO of Airdrop Gaming. “International regulatory and environmental standards also factored into our decision-making process. The fact that these power supplies will be shipping in volumes from Vietnam also provided us a hedge against tariffs imposed on Chinese supplies.”

The GSD models feature precise regulated single-output voltage selection of 12, 19, 24 or 48 VDC. In addition, they adhere to RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU, including the amendment 2015/863/EU REACH Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006. The compact external power supplies also feature:

  • Small form factor 1.26”H x 2.17″W x 4.67L” (32mm x 55mm x 118.5mm)
  • Wide Universal AC input
  • .13W Standby Power typical at 115VAC Open Load Condition
  • Full protection for Input UVP, Output OVP, OCP, SCP and OTP

“Audio Radar enables deaf and hard-of-hearing players to see directional sound events, such as footsteps, vehicles, airplanes and other sounds. The LED-based technology helps level the playing field and amplify equity for all. Audio Radar isn’t only designed for deaf and hard-of-hearing users; it also enhances gamers’ current sound systems to another dimension in gameplay – whether your current sound system isn’t sufficient or when you’re forced to play at zero volume,” commented Murphy.
“We’re pleased to provide support for Airdrop’s gaming marketplace with their revolutionary ‘See the Sound’ Audio Radar system. Our recently introduced GSD series is an ideal match for their requirements, and we’re delighted to collaborate with Airdrop’s creative engineering and product team,” noted Robert L. Carl, President of Brightworks Technology, Inc.

Samples of the GSD60 power supply models are available now upon request, with production in 8 to 12 weeks ARO. For more information, visit Brightworks at: www.brightworks-usa.com.
