In the wake of China Tariffs and CV19 pandemic, Vietnam locations provide viable alternative.
CARLSBAD, Calif., April 13, 2020 — Brightworks Technology, Inc., a global leader in providing Contract Manufacturing Services (CMS) and AC/DC power solutions to OEMs worldwide, is again expanding its manufacturing footprint in Vietnam. A year ago (April 12, 2019), the Company announced the grand opening of its second manufacturing campus in Long Khanh City, Dong Nai province, which is located in southern Vietnam.
With U.S. and Canadian companies now viewing Vietnam as a viable manufacturing alternative to help avoid the continuing tariffs and escalating labor costs in the PRC, the second facility is increasing its output to keep up growing demand.
“Adding another 150,000 square feet of high-volume state-of-the-art manufacturing floor space on our Long Khanh campus will provide our North American customers with additional capacity when the post-CV19 recovery occurs,” said Robert L. Carl, president of Brightworks Technology, Inc. “Our plan is to commission the new building this year and bring it online in time for seasonal holiday shipments. We are actively helping companies effectively deal with the current economic aftermath from the tariff and CV19 situations affecting all businesses.”
Brightwork’s parent company, Group Intellect Power Technology, has been operating in Vietnam since 2007, and opened its new 10-acre campus in Long Khanh in 2019. This facility is dedicated to manufacturing high-volume consumer products and plastics injection molding. The new factory has a headcount of approximately 1,000. Since its opening, the Long Khanh facility has also expanded its SMT manufacturing operations and injection molding operations by approximately 40% to accommodate growing customer demands.
“Global companies are looking at moving their manufacturing from China to Vietnam and other countries that have more favorable trade relations with the U.S and Canada. We are honored with the trust businesses have placed with us as we help reduce their supply line risks,” said Daniel Ma, CEO of Group Intellect Power Technology, parent company of Brightworks. “Our Vietnam plants are vertically integrated and include high volume plastic injection molding machines and extensive cable capabilities. These vertical competencies bypass sourcing from China, shortening lead times and minimizing shipping expenses – which enables us to offer cost and time advantages for our customers. While many countries, customers, and our people are now being affected by the current situation, we are optimistic that the world will emerge stronger than before. We remain committed to supporting the pre-CV19 growth we saw and remain steadfast as we prepare for the business upturn. The Vietnam alternative continues to be very exciting to North American companies and the response by our customers has been extremely positive.”
